Growing up in Chicora, PA, Bill loved all sports, especially basketball and baseball. If the school gym was closed, Bill played basketball in a frozen, cold barn. Bill earned an athletic scholarship to University of West Virginia, but later transferred to play basketball for Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. While at Westminster, Bill majored in Chemistry and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. In his senior year Bill met Linda Walker, a freshman. They were married in June, 1961 after Linda’s graduation. While obtaining his Masters degree in Education, Bill taught Chemistry and coached boys basketball at various high schools in western PA.

He later joined Humble Oil and Refining, which brought Bill and Linda to the Houston area. After leaving Exxon, Bill became an entrepreneur and owned small businesses in retail oil and gas.

Passionate about supporting his daughters’ interests in competitive swimming, Bill was instrumental in starting Blue Tide Aquatics, the first US Swimming club in Kingwood.

  1. Linda, so sorry to hear of Bill’s death. I was at CHQ this week alone because Glenn died in June. I missed you and Bill then heard that he had died. Glenn and he touched base on basketball some years back in discussing put grandson, a good player attend in Christian school on GA
Glenn was unable to come to CHW the, past 3 years due to his, form of PD. Accept my condolences. Bill was a gem in our estimation
