Shannon Lynn Raymond- Covington

Obituary

Shannon Lynn Raymond-Covington was born on July 5, 1970 in Houston Texas to Bill and Eileen Raymond. She was the second of 2 children. She lived all of her life in the Greater Houston area with a brief time in Hobbs NM where she and her husband Greg celebrated the birth of her only child, Kira Covington on October 3, 2005. Shannon passed away on the morning of July 31st.

Shannon accepted Christ in her teens and was a baptized at Garden Villas Baptist Church. She attended High School in Pasadena at Dobie HS and later graduated in Kingwood in 1988. She was an accomplished artist and received a scholarship to attend the Art Institute of Houston. She remained an active artist all her adult life. Shannon worked many jobs in her young adult life until becoming a specialist in logistics for Maersk Shipping. When her father opened his own office furniture company, she became the office manager until its closure. Shannon suffered many illnesses as an adult and because of the limitations she experienced, she became a full-time mom/homemaker once Kira was born. Shannon was always the person to see the beauty in art, life, and most of all people. She was always open to conversation and friendship with anyone who had the pleasure of crossing her path. She did not lead an extravagant life but found joys in simple things like crafts, art, cooking, animals, human rights, and shopping…especially clearance shopping! She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother Eileen Raymond. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Kira Diane Covington, her Father Bill Raymond, her sister Kelley Raymond-O’Donnell, nephews Justin Winkfield (Dina) and Ben O’Donnell, niece Lauren Winkfield, her aunt Janet Meschi (Gary) her uncle Jimmy, cousins Kevin Pierce (Kelly), Damon Pierce (Tanya), Elizabeth Lea Suffron (Jeffrey), John Pierce, William Pierce (Samantha) and many great nieces and nephews as well.

A memorial celebrating her life will be held at Woodridge Baptist Church in Kingwood on August 12th at 1 pm.
