OBITUARY

Celebrating the life of Nancy Kaye Anthony Hanks

Born on October 30th, 1943 in Houston, Texas where she lived until her 79th year – January 10th, 2023.  Her parents were Walter Elmer Anthony Sr., and Sarah Jane Valentine Anthony. She was the first of 4 children.  She attended Jackson Junior High and Austin High School in Houston, Texas. After graduation she was a homemaker, realtor, and then a shuttle attendant.  She lived her life in Westbury, Pearland, Kingwood and Porter, Texas.  She married Billy Ray Hanks Sr. on September 16th, 1963 at Epworth Methodist Church. She was a woman who stood by her own convictions with a vibrant and energetic spirit. Most important in her life was her husband and family.  She loved to read, travel and spend time with the love of her life – her husband Billy.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Renee Hanks Watts, her mother, Sarah Valentine Anthony and her dad, Walter Anthony Sr.  She is survived by her husband Billy Ray Hanks Sr., daughter, Rhonda Hanks Evans, son, Billy Ray Hanks, sisters Pamela Schuette, Lalla Goka, and brother Walter Anthony Jr, grandchildren, Sherry Watts, Christopher Watts, Aaron Evans, Alexandra Evans-Magnani, Nicholas Hanks, Nathan Hanks, Adam Hanks, and great-grandchildren, Harper Watts, Heather Watts, Elizabeth Evans, Owen Evans, Eliot Evans, and Sylar Hanks.

The family with respect will hold a private celebration of life and in leu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Nancy Kaye Anthony Hanks.

    Our hearts go out to you for your loss of Sel. We can sympathize with you because we, too, lost the head of our famly. You never quite get through it, you just learn to focus on carrying on the wonderful blueprint of life Sel has left behind for you all and try to follow with your families.
    Your dad had such a giving heart and a tremendous knowledge of the world well beyond his formal education. A trait that was hugely admired. Focus on those things.
