Obituary

Monna Suzanne (Miller) Gilpin passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the age of 58 at her home in Kingwood, TX. Possessed of a brilliant mind and unquenchable creativity, Monna graduated from Jenks High School in Oklahoma in 1983. She later earned her degree from Harding University, in Searcy, Arkansas.

While attending Harding, Monna discovered a love for travel and international ministry. She met her husband James Gilpin in Europe on a Harding-sponsored adventure and
their life-long passion for serving others helped them form an unbreakable bond. Monna and James were married on December 17, 1987.

Monna’s nurturing love for young people was evident throughout her life, including her time in service at a home for unwed teenagers when the Gilpins lived in Topeka, KS.
The Gilpins were blessed with the addition of John Andrew Gilpin to their family in 2000, and Meghan Elena Gilpin in 2003. A devoted mother, Monna raised her children to be
creative, clever and kind. She put her children and husband first, volunteering as homeroom mom, carpool mom, Girl-Scout-Troop Leader mom, arts and crafts mom and
just about anything else she could think of. The Gilpins raised their children in Carrolton TX, Bismarck, ND, Broken Arrow, OK and Kingwood TX, every stop punctuated with Monna’s giving spirit and service as a community and church volunteer. Monna’s sudden passing leaves shocked mourners in communities across the country who can’t imagine not seeing her mischievous smile one more time.

Monna is survived by her husband, James Gilpin, of Kingwood, TX, her son John Andrew Gilpin and son-in-law Tyler Jenkins of Austin,TX; her mother Eleanor Jane
Branum Miller of Muskogee, OK; her brother Mike Miller and sister-in-law Holly Rosser Miller of Muskogee, OK; brother Matt Miller and sister-in-law Monica Miller of
Muskogee, OK; her father-in-law Manly Gilpin and stepmother Kathy Gilpin of Searcy, AR.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Meghan Gilpin and her father, Dr. Dan E. Miller, M.D.
