Lee Joseph Taylor Jr.

1935 ~
 2022

OBITUARY

Lee Joseph Taylor, Jr. took his first earthly breath in Port Arthur, Texas on May 11, 1935 and his last in Porter, Texas on February 21, 2022.

Ahhhhh but the breaths in between!

Lee was the only child of Leona & Lee Joseph Taylor, Sr. He was born into a family with siblings, Burl and Murl Taylor. While half siblings, they were whole in his heart.

L.J. lived a happy carefree life even while growing up in the war-torn 40s. Playing ‘war; was one of his favorite pastimes. This game of war brandished him a BB shot in his left eye around the age of 15, leaving him blind in that eye. Undeterred from his love of the military, L.J. finagled his way into the US Air Force!

While on a casual weekend home with a buddy from his military outfit, he met Bill Bell’s little sister. Sparks flew, plans were made and in six weeks, he and Christeen Bell were married.

L.J. and Chris moved to Roswell, NM with his Uncle Sam and began their family having Lee Joseph Taylor, III (Joey) and Virginia Christeen (Gina) there.

His Uncle Sam moved this family of four to Limestone, ME where the family grew with the births of Burl Casey and Robert James (Jimmy) Taylor.

L.J. began his life with the Masonic Lodge while living in Limestone.

After 5 years of shoveling snow, the Taylors moved to Pasadena, Texas, a mere 3 houses down from his aunt and uncle. L.J. got out of the active military but remained in the National Guard for many years.

Houston Lighting and Power and Lee’s hard work put food on the table for this family of 6 for many years.

Lee soon became active with the Arabia Shrine. Drilling, traveling, friends and the Shrine Circus dominated their lives.

In 1975, the Taylors were blessed with their first grandchild and soon expanded to nine who called him Grandpa/Pa: Jamie Diane Williams (married to Todd Williams), Andrew Casey Taylor, Matthew Ryan Dutcher, Andrea Christeen Wilson (married to Kevin Wilson), Casidy Christeen Lee (married to Mike Lee), Ashlee Rose Taylor, Heather Rose Taylor, Mitchel Reid Dutcher (married to Lindsey Dutcher) and Holly Lynn Taylor.

In the 15 years since the angels sang his soulmate, Chris into heaven, Lee/L.J. has filled his time with the church, family, friends and eating.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Leona Taylor, his brother and sister Burl Taylor and Murl Baket. He is also preceded by his wife Chris and two of his sons, Joey and Jimmy.

But, his legacy lives on with 18 great-granchildren (so far), beloved nieces, great nieces, cousins and many, many friends!

  1. My condolences to my family and to all of you who shared Lee J. Taylor…
To Lee, I have many fond memories, dear Cousin-In-Law as you loved to call me, collected thru the years! Your exploits trying to water ski with my father, Joe Bailey Bell, Sr. In So. IL. when my cousin and your Christeen and little Joey spent the summer with us on the farm. To you and my New Yorker, Harvey, playing golf in Biloxi, to us spying each other on impromptu trips to the Coast and elsewhere in MS, to phone calls talking about the good, the bad, and the ugly…yes, your physical being will be so missed but I so thank you for the memories and family we share! Later…T ❤️
