Larry Fischer of Kingwood, Texas passed away peacefully at home on June 28th, 2023 after losing his courageous battle with esophageal cancer
Larry was born on February 1, 1956, in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Pat and Dale Fishcer. The middle of three children, he grew up in Crawfordsville, attending South Mont High School before proudly serving in the United States Air Force as a Plumbing Specialist.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Larry moved to Colorado and began his professional career at the Department of Energy’s Rocky Flats Plant where he met the love of his life Sherrie. They were married in 1986 and made their home in Broomfield Colorado. He was a member of the United Steelworkers and held numerous positions at Rocky Flats and retired in 2005 as a Radiation Control Technologist.
After retirement, Larry and Sherrie took part time jobs for travel fun money and then fully retired in 2014 and moved to be closer to their daughters’ families in Kingwood, Texas.
Larry enjoyed making others laugh, traveling with Sherrie, collecting and shooting guns, watching baseball and listening to rock music. Larry loved Sherrie more on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, Sherrie loved Larry more on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and they loved each other the same on Sunday.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Pat, father Dale and brother Fred. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 37 years, Sherrie, his cherished daughters, Rebecca Picotte and Jennifer Williams, sons-in-law Michael Picotte and Colby Williams and his beloved grandchildren John, William and Marcy Picotte and Isabella Williams. Also left to mourn his passing, sister Linda and brother-in-law Dave Black, nephew Buck Black, sister-in-law Terrie McCollum and nephew Johnny McCollum, and numerous loving friends.
Larry will have a visitation at Darst Funeral Home on July 13th, 2023 from 5 PM to 7 PM inside the chapel. The following day, July 14th, a Memorial Service will take place at Darst Funeral Home again at 10:00 AM with Pastor Andy Cherry officiating. After the service, a burial will take place at Rosewood Cemetery 22271 US-59, Porter, TX 77365.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13th, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Darst Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023 at Darst Funeral Home Chapel. with Andy Cherry to officiate. Graveside services will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park, Porter, Texas.
