On Friday, October 21st, 2022, Johnny Tony Belasquez, father of five children, passed away at the age of 73.
Johnny was born on July 13, 1949 in Galveston, TX to Magdelena and Charles Roque, Sr. and was one of 15 children. Johnny joined the United States Marine Corps in 1972 and would serve through 1981. He would then enlist into the Army National Guard and end his military service in late 1987.
Johnny married Rosie Sullivan in 1968 with whom he would have, Roxanne, Sandra and Dora, and a son, Johnny. They would separate in 1978. He would then marry again in 1984 to Brenda Johnston and have an additional son, Jason. They separated in 2010.
After his military career, Johnny would become an over-the-road truck driver and had a career spanning over 40 years traveling the country. Johnny possessed a very strong sense of duty to his country and always had his patriotism on display. He was proud of the work that he performed in and out of the armed services.
He was also an avid Houston Texans and Astros. He would enjoy the Texans tailgate parties and the Astros games, he was taken too. He worked for FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center and retired after 12 years. During those years he helped the community through countless volunteer hours at many events. He would volunteer assisting seniors with their dogs or cats at the vaccination clinic, picking up donations on his off days, setting up the yearly Christmas event for Shelter kids. The maintenance of the women’s shelter was not an easy task, but he enjoyed working there. Johnny was a very social person who didn’t know a stranger. He was loved and adored by many and will be deeply missed.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father Charles, and his mother, Magdalena. He is survived by his five children Roxanne Meshell, Sandra Belasquez and partner Tony, Dora Belasquez, Johnny Belasquez, Jr. and wife Debbie, Jason Belasquez and wife Rebecca, grandkids Jamie and James Self, Erik Clark, Quintana Hollingsworth, Gillin and Breanna Belasquez, Michael Nila, and Willow and Jhett Belasquez. His surviving brothers are Benny and Charles, and sisters Cindy, Helen, Mary and Suzie.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at Darst Funeral Home located at 796 Russell Palmer Rd, Kingwood, TX 77339 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. There will be no graveside ceremony but his ashes will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
