 2022

OBITUARY

Joe Carl Vawters, Jr., age 66, of Atascocita, Texas with his Lord on Monday, May 23, 2022, after a three-and-a-half-year battle with colon cancer.

Joe, one of God’s most precious masterpieces, was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and boss.

He leaves behind his wife Isa, daughter Julia, parents Joe Sr. and Betty Vawters,  numerous other relatives, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Noack.

Born on August 1, 1955, in Houston Texas, Joe graduated in 1973 from Humble High School, attended Texas A&M University, and received a B.S. degree in marketing from the University of Houston. After graduation, he took a job in the steel industry in Memphis, Tennessee and then Houston, Texas.

After 13 years, Joe, his mother, and another partner decided to go into business for themselves and formed JOBE Services.  He became president and co-owner of the factoring services company in Humble, Texas.  His company was faith-based, and he prayed every morning with his staff because he truly believed that God was in control and would guide them.

In 1978 he met the love of his life. Isa immediately was attracted to him because of his kindness and gentleness.  Joe and Isa had a very special relationship from the beginning and a loving marriage of 41 years.  They have a beautiful daughter, Julia, who has always been the apple of her father’s eye.

Joe was a compassionate man who loved everyone as his own family.  He was always ready to help anyone and always saw the good in everyone.  He loved children, animals, and nature. Joe had a passion for the outdoors and took great pride in keeping his lawn and landscape well groomed.  He loved going to his property in Junction, Texas and spending time with his father there.  Every Friday night, no matter where they were, he would call his father at 6:00 p.m. and enjoy a beer with him.

He was a handyman extraordinaire who could fix anything.  No project was too big. He installed new windows on the house, replaced all of the old siding with Hardie Plank, built a deck and the patio furniture for it, replaced the deck with pavers, and built a firepit.

He loved to fire up the grill, play host to his friends, and always insisted on doing the dishes himself.  Joe was also an avid golfer, with a handicap that was the envy of his friends.

Joe was proud of his Texas roots and loved studying the history of Texas and the United States.  He was always thanking soldiers and policemen for their service and sacrifice.  He was also known to anonymously buy a meal for a person in uniform.

Joe was a kind, fun-loving, humble man who never lost his love of life, sense of humor, dedication to his work, or his strong faith. He was grateful to the medical staff who helped him through his cancer journey and kept them laughing until the end. To the people who know and love him, Joe is and will always be one of the best people they have ever known.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
