Jacky Lou was born May 18, 1928, in El Dorado, Arkansas. Being an only child of the Depression Era, her parents often moved where work could be found. Many times that meant staying with her Father’s family members and never having a permanent home of her own. She had a loving upbringing being around her Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins, but she dreamed of having a large family and a home of her own that would be the gathering place to welcome all. That dream came true when she married Ed Wenzel on August 28, 1945, had their four children, and built their dream home on 40 acres in Porter, Texas in 1958.
She was truly the Matriarch of the Wenzel family and everyone knew they could always depend on “Mother, Mimaw, Nana, Sister, Aunt, and Friend” when they needed her. Her sense of humor, her laughter, and the “twinkle in her eyes” made any situation better. She was the consummate “Baby Whisperer” and loved all the babies in her family with a heart that was unlimited. She will be missed but never forgotten, for she is embedded in each of our hearts by the wonderful memories she left us.
