Hein, Jr, John
Obituary
John Edward Hein, Jr. (56) peacefully passed away on July 8th, 2012. John was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer in February 2011. Although this is an aggressive cancer which typically has a very short prognosis, John fought valiantly for 17 months, during which time he was blessed to see his daughter graduate from vet school and to see the birth of is first grandchild, John Edward Hein, III.
rn
John was born in Dallas, TX to Betty Jane (Lemmon) Hein and the late John Edward Hein, Sr. He went to John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, OK where he cultivated a large group of faithful friends who have been by his side until the end. He went on to Austin College, home of the Fighting Kangaroos, where he matriculated with a double major in English and Philosophy. He also briefly attended the University of Oklahoma where he met his wife and best friend, Sharla Woolbright. John and Sharla were married in June of 1983 and raised 2 children together: Haven Elizabeth and Evan Bertram.

John was an accomplished petroleum landman, most recently at Southwestern Energy. The petroleum industry moved the Hein family to many locations across the United States and they developed cherished friendships in Houston, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Fayetteville, Kingwood, and most recently in The Woodlands.
rn
John is remembered for his quick wit, his colorful personality, and his fountain of useless trivia. He loved the outdoors and he took every opportunity to take vacations to share the world with his children.
rn
John is preceded in death by his father, John Sr. He is survived by his mother Betty Jane Hein of Dallas, TX; his wife Sharla; his children Haven Hein, DVM and Evan Hein with wife Erin and son John Edward Hein, III; his sisters Cheryl Hein of Falls Church, VA and Gretchen Greco with husband Richard of Arlington, TX.
