Harper, Carolyn F
Obituary
Carolyn Fredregill Harper was born on October 27, 1946, in Pasadena, Texas, to Lloyd and Dorothy Fredregill. She passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 31, 2019, following a brief, yet courageous battle with T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In her final weeks, she drew the greatest strength and comfort from the words of the Scriptures, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10) Although absent from the body, she is now at home with the Lord.
rn
On November 15, 1969, Carolyn married Henry Osler Harper, Jr., at Memorial Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas.
rn
For nearly fifty years, Carolyn was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother, whose children will always know the warmth and comfort of a loving home and the simple joy of sharing a home-cooked meal with family around a dinner table. She instilled within each of them the truth that we never outlive the wisdom of our parents and that the greatest commandment truly is to the love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. She was a woman of unassuming virtue whose beauty was evident in the way she dignified others through quiet devotion and loving hospitality. In a frenetic world of restless discontent, her life bore witness to the timeless truth that lasting joy is found in the service of others. She possessed a rare quality that put all those around her at ease, and she was loved by countless friends.
rn
She left this world in the same way she lived her life – without fanfare or attention. Yet, all those who knew her feel the enormity of her absence, even as we are reminded of our Lord’s promise that our weeping will, one day, be transformed into joy.
rn
She is survived by her loving husband, Henry, their eldest daughter and husband, Christi and Jonathan Hynson, their two children, Jeremiah and Maizie Grace; their son and his wife, Henry O. Harper, III (Trey) and Reagan, and their four children, David, Rachael, Isaac, and Ada; their daughter and her husband, Kimberly and Brad Baggett, and their six children, Isabella, Elijah, Atticus, Scarlett Paige, Priscilla, and Magnolia; and their daughter, Brittany Harper. She is also survived by her sister and husband, Marilyn and James Appleby, and her brother and his wife, Garland and Helen Fredregill. She is also survived by her Aunt Jean Louder, of Pasadena, Texas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends and loved-ones.
