OBITUARY

Hiram Alfred  “Hi” George, Jr. was born September 10, 1931 in Nanticoke, PA to Mary and Hiram George, Sr. and passed away in Kingwood, TX  on October 13, 2012  at the age of 81. Hi earned his Chemical Engineering degree from Penn State University and then served his country as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 until 1958. He was a dedicated Shell Oil Company employee for 37 years retiring in 1990. He loved his family beyond reproach, self sacrificing and living his life frugally. This allowed him to save enough to be able to pay for the college education of his four children and nine grandchildren, a feat he was extremely proud of having been able to accomplish. He had a genuine love of animals and dearly loved all of his dogs. He is preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Stein and is survived by his loving wife of 58 years,  Florette R. George; daughters,  Lynn DeMuynck and husband, Jeffrey, Lee Andrepont and husband, Shane;  son, Reed George and wife Dana, son Rick George and wife Tiffany; grandchildren, Holly Berndt, Jeff DeMuynck, James DeMuynck, Taylor George, Kimberlyn George, Jordan Andrepont, Logan Andrepont, Parker George, Danielle George; and numerous other relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Martha’s Kitchen c/o  St. Martha Catholic Church 4301 Woodridge, Porter, TX 77365.

Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Darst Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. Martha Catholic Church with Monsignor Chester Borski, celebrant. Interment will follow the next day in the veteran’s Houston National Cemetery.
