Obituary
Cindy Ellafair Vickery, age 63, loving wife of Michael Wayne Holder, passed away early afternoon on July 4, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cindy was born on February 2, 1959 in Mobile Alabama, she moved to Texas in 1968 with her parents and seven brothers and sisters, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Cindy was predeceased by her parents Plennie Hayward Vickery Senior, Mary Evelyn Ard Vickery and her brother Charles McDonald Vickery. She is survived by her brothers, Emmett Ray Vickery and wife Veronica, Plennie Hayward Vickery Junior and wife Beth and Lonnie Michael Vickery Senior along with her sisters Susan Spencer Vickery, Mary Anne Vickery and Shirley Juanita Vickery, Uncles, Aunt and many Nieces and Nephews.
She followed her mother in build on your lot custom home sales for almost ten years and then graduated cosmetology school in the early 1990’s and continued as a full-service beauty operator for the next 26 years before retiring. Her later years were spent doing all the things she loved, including enjoying sunsets and sunrises, watching the waves lapping on the beach, camping and sitting beside a roaring fire, singing karaoke and listening to her favorite music along with tending to her (literally) hundreds of plants and flowers.
Cindy learned to sew and quilt sitting on a stool at her Grandmother’s feet, “Mama Ard”, beginning at the age of seven years old and continued to hone her quilting skills with her mother. In later years Cindy became an avid and accomplished seamstress and quilter, creating unique quilts along with many craft art forms for her family, friends and customers.
Cindy’s greatest passions include love for her husband, family, friends and especially her “fur babies”. She was unwavering in her generosity of love and devotion for not only her family, as well as all of humanity. Many people who knew Cindy would describe her as bold, bodacious, loud and over the top. But those of us who knew her best would also include her sensitive nature and kindness to a fault. You could always count on Cindy’s sweet smile and laughter through the good times and the bad.
