OBITUARY

On the morning of Sunday, January 8th, 2023, Helen, loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend walked through the pearly gates of Heaven, healthy, tall, and on her own two feet.  Helen was born on December 30th, 1944 in Haletown TN, the youngest of 4 children to Willie and Olive McPeters and grew up in Tiftonia TN.  She attended Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, graduating with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1967.  Helen took her first job of many in the field of education at Falling Water Elementary. In the summers she traveled world with her mother visiting Europe, Egypt, and the Holy Lands.   In 1970 Helen married Bill Williams.  They had two children.  Bill’s job took them from Chattanooga TN to Knoxville TN, Beaumont TX and Kingwood TX, all of where they made lifelong friends.  In 2000, they moved to Coldspring TX and enjoyed the next 19 years living on Lake Livingston.  After 50 years in education, Helen ultimately retired from Coldspring Intermediate School in 2017. In 2019, after the passing of her husband, Helen moved back to Kingwood to be closer to family.

Always loved by her students, she was also a friend to all that she met.  Her happy, silly and fun-loving nature was infectious to everyone in her presence.   Helen had a gift for bringing people together.  A favorite time for her was frequently hosting a five o’clock happy hour, where neighbors, friends and family would gather to enjoy drinks, stories, music and the view from the gazebo.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Williams, father and mother, Willie and Olive McPeters, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Judson and Ethel Williams, her brother Andrew McPeters, her brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Sharon McPeters, her brother-in-law Bob Hill, and her brother-in-law Randy Guess.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and John Troeger, her son Taylor Williams, and her two grandchildren Conlin Williams and Martha Troeger, her sister, Frances Hill, her sister-in-law Janet McPeters, sister-in-law  and brother-in-law Carolyn and S.W. Stone, sister-in-law Kay Guess, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A clebration of life will be held in Kingwood, TX March 4th location and time TBD.
