Peggy was born October 12, 1938 in Old Glory, Texas. She was the second of three girls born to parents, Marvin and Lucille Francis. She had an older sister, Joyce, and a younger twin sister, Patty.
She attended Cohoma High School, Howard County Jr. College, Abilene Christian Univ., the Univ. of Texas at Austin (Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics), and Sam Houston St. Univ. ( Master’s degree in Counseling)
After graduation, she became a High School Home Economics teacher, and a Middle School & High School counselor. She retired in 2010 after over 25 years in education. After retirement, she was involved in political campaigns and was a Practioner at the Creative Life Spiritual Center in Spring, Texas.
She married Raymond Engelhardt in Big Spring Texas on August 18th, 1962. After marriage, she lived in Austin, Corpus Christi, Snyder, Plainview, and Houston (Kingwood).
Over the years, she was active in several churches. She studied continuously to grow spiritually.
She loved to read and study, spend time with family, and she loved politics. She was active in Republican politics and was a founder and the first President of the Lake Houston Republican Women. She was campaign manager for Congressman Jack Fields.
Important events in her life were marriage, graduation from Univ. of Texas, 4 children, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Peggy was happy, loving, kind, caring, intelligent, direct, forgiving, strong willed, fun loving, and an animal lover. She loved country music and southern gospel hymns. Her favorite songs were “The Eyes of Texas” and “Elvira.”
Her special friends were her “Mo Ranch Family” and her Creative Life group.
She was preceded in death by Marvin Francis (Father), Lucille Francis (Mother), Todd Engelhardt (Son), and Patty Bell (Sister).
She is survived by Raymond Engelhardt (Husband), Chad Engelhardt (Son) and wife Stacy, Kent Engelhardt (Son) and wife Mandee, Mitzi Engelhardt (Daughter), Joyce Spears (Sister), 5 Engelhardt grandchildren – Jeremy (JT), Blaze, Gunnar, Ty, Emilee, and 1 great grandchild Blue Bear Engelhardt.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mrs. Peggy Engelhardt on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Darst Funeral Home with a catered reception to follow.

So sorry Mitzi for the loss of your mom! She was an amazing woman! She will be missed! Love, hugs and prayers to you and your family!
I’m still trying to process the loss of this beautiful soul. We shared laughter and tears and love. I can’t imagine never being able to hear her voice again. My heart breaks for Ray and their beautiful children and grandchildren. Their lives will be forever changed without Deucie.

Peggy was a very fun loving , loyal friend . She will be missed by many family & friends. May God give you peace .
Peggy meant the absolute world to me. I had the privilege of meeting her when I was a first year teacher 28 years ago in New Caney. I spent hours in her counselors’ office – sometimes laughing, sometimes, ranting, sometimes crying. She always had enough time for EVERYONE. Such a genuine, amazing, vibrant woman. She made the world better every day by being a part of it. I’m so lucky to have known her.
My deepest condolences to her amazing family.
We met Peggy at church the same month Linda and I left Fort Worth. We all went to Mo Ranch every year until Linda’s death, most of our families continue to go every year.
I have great memories of her and her family and are truly going to miss Peggy.

Mrs. Peggy was such a blessing on all our lives. I will miss her, but I also know she is reunited with Todd and Mom and is absolutely having a blast! Thoughts and prayers go out to all of you and hope the healing gets a little better each day. I love all of you!
How sad I am to find out just now that Peggy passed in January snd I just saw it on Social Media. Peggy was a true blessing to me and I loved her genuine and happy spirit. She was so much fun to be with and I loved her dearly. Prayers for Ray, their children and grandchildren.
