Jackson, Willa F.
Obituary
Willa Faye Jackson was born on January 6, 1934 in her family home in Hutton, Louisiana and passed away at her home in Kingwood, Texas on August 17, 2021. She will be laid to rest in Welcome Cemetery along side her beloved husband of 50 years, Hayes Clinton Jackson of Simpson, Louisiana.
Willa Faye was the youngest daughter of Allen and Virda Martin of Hutton, Louisiana and had two sisters and six brothers. Many of their children and grandchildren are here today to remember and celebrate “Aunt Willie’s” life.
She is survived by two sons, Charles and Victor, of Houston, Texas, and their respective spouses Cindy and Alice, two granddaughters, Jade Jackson Jiro and her spouse Mark Jiro of Houston, Texas and Granddaughter-in-Love, Miranda Fulks Saenz and her husband Austin Saenz of Nacogdoches, Texas.
Mrs. Jackson lived in Simpson most of her adult life. She was a school cafeteria cook for many years and retired from Vernon Parish Schools in 2008. Willa Faye was a favorite of most of the kids she served; an extra roll or larger helping was always her way of saying, I love you.
Her best dishes were always served to her family and friends.
If you haven’t experienced her fried pies, fried chicken, homemade French fries, chicken and dumplings, peas and cornbread and the list goes on, then you have really missed out. Her food really was the best.
Willa Faye was a member of the Simpson Church of God and Assembly of God; she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years.
She found real joy in not only nurturing children’s bodies, but also their understanding of God, right from wrong and how to treat others. Her brand was gentleness, kindness, service and sacrifice and finally she always made us laugh. She loved a joke or prank and would be the first to want to cut up and have a good time especially with her best friend and partner in crime, Evelyn Standifer. She will be missed by all of us. We celebrate her today.
Honored to serve as pallbearers; Neal Martin, Dewayne Martin, Lynwood Martin, Durwin Martin, Eddie Perkins and Greg Standifer.
