OBITUARY

Daniel Peter DiGregorio

Daniel DiGregorio (66) passed away on August 2, 2020 in Porter, TX. The son of Nino and Grace DiGregorio, Dan was born on April 7, 1954 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He and his family have lived in the Kingwood, TX area since 1996.

Dan grew up and attended school in Wappingers Falls, NY and graduated from Hofstra University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He had a strong work ethic and a successful career for over 40 years in information technologies, rising to executive officer positions for several multinational corporations. He designed a number of unique software programs over the years, many of which are still in use. Dan left the corporate realm 8 years ago and realized his dream of owning his own business. He owned and operated the PostalAnnex+ in Kingwood and was able to be an active community supporter through this work. Some of this community involvement included multiple connections to Humble ISD through the Education Foundation, several elementary PTOs, site based committees and various individual school’s organizations. Dan was involved in the BNI Humble Business Alliance, and served on the MUD84 board in Oakhurst.

Dan met his wife Judi (Slotnick) while attending Hofstra University and they were married on May 28, 1978 in Boston, MA. They recently celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage. Dan was very proud of his three children and worked hard to take care of his family. He will be remembered as a loving Papa to his three grandchildren who were a great source of joy for him. He enjoyed golfing and took great pleasure in being able to build his home on the golf course in Oakhurst.

Dan is preceded in death by his father, Nino DiGregorio.

He is survived by his mother, Grace, wife Judi, and children: Sarah Bazley, her husband Jesse and son Ian; Rachel Johnson, her husband Jeremy and their children Justin and Jaclyn; and Matthew DiGregorio. Dan is also survived by 2 younger siblings: JoAnn Kelly and her family, and Thomas DiGregorio. Dan is deeply loved by his many family, friends, employees and extensive business network.

A celebration of life will be held at Darst Funeral Home on Sunday, August 9 at 1 pm.

A scholarship fund has been established by the DiGregorio family in Dan’s memory. The importance of education was one of Dan’s guiding principles and his family wishes to honor his legacy through this scholarship.

  22. Dan was my friend for 9 years along with his wife Judi. He helped me so many times with the many PTAS and non profit organizations I was involved with over the years. He was especially helpful and so kind and charitable with Humble ISD Title 1 schools. There was never a time where I asked him for help and he said no. He would occasionally sigh and say “The things I get myself into. But it’s for the kids right?” His store was a true neighborhood establishment and he took great pride in excellent customer service and making his customers his friends. He even hired my daughter when I asked him if he had any summer jobs. A trip up to the corner to “Dan’s Place” as we all called the business, was always a delight. I cannot begin to tell you Judi and your family how much I will miss his raspy voice, his sense of humor, and the heart and soul he put into this community. He made an impact on my life in the most positive way.

  23. I met Dan 8 years ago or so when he came by my store to talk about opening a Postal Annex. We remained friends and communicated often, mostly about work-related issues, and he was always willing to go the extra mile, whether to help me with something or to fight on behalf of a customer. His loss will be felt greatly.

  56. When I stopped by Postal Annex yesterday afternoon to ship a couple of boxes, and to get some help from Dan with an on-going project he had been helping me with, his wife, Judi, informed me of the very sad news that he had recently passed away, which shocked me. I could not believe he was gone, and I expressed my heartfelt sympathy. I have many fond recollections of Dan. Whenever I went to Postal Annex, he always greeted me by name, and with a warm welcome and a genuine smile, as though I was a member of his family. Not only was Dan always available to help me ship packages, take passport pictures, and notarize documents, but he also spent countless hours, over the past few years, helping me put together quarterly logbooks for my two cats, Augusta and Jumbo, to help me keep track of their daily medications and dietary requirements. Dan took great joy in helping me put these logbooks together, and I owe him an eternal debt of gratitude. I will remember Dan for his helpfulness, his kindness, his pleasant demeanor, his good sense of humor, and his strong work ethic. Earth has lost a good man in Dan, and Heaven has gained an angel.

  57. I just found out that Dan had passed away. I have not had a need to swing buy his store till today. When I asked “Where’s Dan?”, the gentleman told me that he had passed away. This news hit me like a ton of bricks. Dan was one of the nicest guys that I ever met. He was incredibly helpful and just a real kind man. My heart breaks for your loss. Rick
