OBITUARY

Peggy L. Kirkpatrick, 68, passed away on June 26, 2020, in her home in Kingwood, TX.  Peggy was born to Ira and Armilda (Sublette) Stephens on July 20, 1951, in Dumas, TX.  Peggy attended Dalhart Public Schools, where basketball was her passion.  She graduated in 1969.  In 1977, she met the love of her life, John, in Chickasha, OK.  After spending several years in Oklahoma (in Chickasha and Rush Springs), she and her husband, John, moved to Kingwood, TX for John’s career.  Kingwood has been her home for 32 years.  Peggy and John are members of Kingwood Second Baptist Church North.

Peggy spent many years in the mortgage business and was Vice President of Pool Mortgage in Chickasha, OK prior to her move to Kingwood.  While in Kingwood, Peggy and her family became heavily involved in Kingwood First Baptist Church where Peggy became the Children’s Minister for many years. Peggy loved all of God’s children and she was a blessing to all that knew her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Steve Stephens and one nephew Quentin Holt.  She is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, John Kirkpatrick.  One son, Shawn Duggan, of Rush Springs, OK , three daughters, Heather Denton and husband Rob, of Houston, TX , Johnna Stephens, Pam Shropshire and husband, Johnny from Chickasha, OK.

John and Peggy had the blessing of having many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grandchildren:  Lacy Gill, and husband Ryan from Kingwood, TX. Madison Verhelst, and husband Devin, Alex, Mia and Tori Denton, Johnathan Christian, Judd Stephens and Tamara Kawaykla, Tandi Carlile and husband Steve, Lindsey Ford and husband Alexander, Brooke Palmer and husband Bryce, Erika Shropshire and Dusty Venable.

Great Grands:  Gabbi, Carly, Ayden, Hartley, Scarlet, John, James, Jennifer, Jason, Amber, Jordan, Taylor, Brayden, Kyle, Kingston, Boston, Brooks, Kaleb, Kyler, Kasen, Bryden, Jenna

Great Great Grands:  Ensley and Aiden

Each and every grandchild was a blessing and was extra special to Peggy.  Mimi (as she was known) was very special to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as to her many nieces and nephews; they each held a very special place in her heart.

Peggy is survived by 4 siblings.  Doris Holt, and husband Frank, of Dalhart, TX; Austin Stephens, and wife Luann, of Dalhart, TX; Kevin Stephens, and wife Dawn, of Hartley, TX; Gay Gallagher, and husband Larry of Liberal, KS.

Peggy lived a full life as a wonderful mother, wife, sister and friend. She loved to cook and enjoyed outings with her friends and family.  She loved to attend bible studies and socializing with her Bunco group.  She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Due to the COVID pandemic a memorial service will be planned at a later date, as well as Burial which will be in Chickasha, OK

She didn’t hesitate to share her beautiful smile, her care and love for others was evident in her words and actions. One thing I will remember about Peggy was the love she had for the Lord, and the love in her heart for her family. She was a truly kind person.

    Andrew and I are sad to have learned of Peggy’s passing. She was indeed a woman of God, kind to not only children, but to everyone. I shall miss her. Sending prayers to you all for comfort and strength.

  12. Our deepest sympathy to John and all of Peggy‘s family in their great loss. We will always remember Peggy for her love and leadership of children, including children with disabilities. She was active in volunteering at community events for my daughter, who has autism, and she ministered “hands on” to so many. I will remember her always for her smile, laughter, and ministry of love, in Jesus’ name.

  13. Our deepest condolences to Peggy’s family. She was a joy to our hearts and a light for our Lord Jesus. So many happy memories of times spent with her. She will be greatly missed.

  14. I am so sorry to hear about Peggy. She was a special person. My fondest memory was the encouragement she gave me when I decided to leave MDO and start my own business. I love her for encouraging me the way she did. She was will be missed dearly. Many prayers to the family.
