OBITUARY

Santos Fidel Rodriguez Mireles, lovingly known as Sam or Sammy; left this world after a brief illness to enter into the presence of the Lord at 04: 07 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, April 29, 2020 in Kingwood, Texas.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15

Sam was born on December 03, 1949 in Houston, Texas. He was the second of four children born to Fidel Meza Mireles and Alice Rodriguez Mireles who were Native Texans whose families have a long history in the State of Texas which he loved. When Sam was 19 years old he came to Galena Park, Texas, where he met the Reverend Clark E Lott, Sr. PhD.; pastor of Grace Tabernacle Church. His life would never be the same. That year he met the Lord and was Baptized in Jesus Name. He also met his devoted wife Sandra Rone Mireles. They were married on September 09, 1970 in Galena Park. Sam and Sandra were also members of Life Tabernacle Church under Pastor James L. Kilgore for many years.

Sam was trained to be a skilled draftsman who began his career at Dow Chemical. He loved drawing and used these skills for the rest of his life in his career as a General Contractor. He shared his love of building with his three sons, who consulted him on the finer points of building projects that came up through the years.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Fidel Meza Mireles and his brother Moses Mireles; his sister-in law Rachael Castillo Mireles, his niece Mary Michelle Mireles; his father-in-law J. T. Rone, his mother-in-law Janette McCool Rone, his brothers-in-law James T Rone and David Rone.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Sandra Rone Mireles and their three sons, Jonathan F Mireles of Cypress, Texas, Mark T Mireles and wife Jennifer Harlow Mireles of Channelview, Texas, Derek R Mireles and wife Janice Whaley Mireles of Florence, Texas; mother Alice Rodriguez Mireles of Laredo, Texas, sister Marie Mireles Hart of Tomball, Texas, brother Richard Armond Mireles of Galena Park, Texas, sister-in-law Annabell Garza Mireles, of Spring, Texas, sister-in-law Mary (Sissy) Rone Kincade and husband Wayne of Bragg City Missouri, brother-in-law Robert W. (Bobby) Rone and wife Christina of Cleveland, Texas, sister-in-law Glenda Rone Marshall and husband Michael of Humble, Texas, sister-in-law Cynthia (Cindy) Rone Mitchell and husband James of Rosharon, Texas, brother-in-law Clark Rone and wife Laura of Porter, Texas, brother-in-law Dennis Rone of Porter, Texas, grandchildren Clint Mireles, Rebekah Mireles, Cassidy Mireles; Christopher Ward, Brittany Mireles, Caleb Mireles, Asher Mireles, and Charlotte Mireles; great grandchildren Elliot Ward and Riley Franklin along with a host of nieces and nephews and a host of family members and friends.

His grandson Caleb Mireles wants everyone to know that his Grandpapa was kind, loving and generous. He is loved.

  1. It saddens me to know that many times I planned to go see him and never followed through. The last time I really had a talk with him, he had very good things to say and gave great advice. I’ll always remember him as that Uncle who smiled so big with such a warm laugh! Uncle Sam will always have a special place in my heart!
