Obituary
Baby Mathai, or Babychen as we lovingly call him, was born to the late Pakkallil Varghese Mathai and Mrs. Annamma Mathai on May 09, 1962 in Thalavady, Kerala. He was the third of five children and was a fun-loving kid. He was kind and gentle, yet a daring person and was well-liked by the neighbors, relatives and peers. He completed his school and technical education in Thalavady and Edathua, and having completed his education, he left for Muscat, Oman in 1983.
He married Anna Baby (Kochumol) on April 01, 1991 and was blessed with two children, Siby and Cynda. He established a successful career at Muscat Port Trust from 1983 to 2005 and then immigrated to the United States in 2005 with his family. After a brief stay in Pittsburgh, PA, he settled his family in Missouri City, Texas and worked at Quiet Flex as an electrician.
He had great faith in God and was a devoted parishioner of St. Thomas Marthoma Church, Niranam and later at Immanuel Marthoma Church, Houston. He was a dedicated parish member, a good neighbor, and a helping hand to any and all who needed him. Aside from spending time with his family and friends, he loved nature and enjoyed cultivating his own vegetable garden in his spare time.
He proved to be a dedicated son, brother, husband, parent and citizen, guiding everyone fortunate enough to meet him to a blessed and resourceful life. He is survived by his loving wife, son, daughter, mother, three brothers and his sister.
He has served his life on earth dutifully and was called to share in the eternal life on February 22, 2020 at the age of 57. He will be greatly missed by many, having touched so many lives in Thalavady, Muscat, Pittsburgh and Houston.
We pray for Babychen’s heavenly life with his Creator. Until we meet again, we will dearly hold his loving memories forever in our heart.
