Macdonald, Robert "Bob" J.

1935 ~
 2019

OBITUARY

On September 10th, 2019, “Bob” Macdonald left his earthly body to be with his heavenly Father. His strong spirit remains in our hearts. He is greatly missed but left his children (5), grandchildren (11) and great-grandchildren (6) with wonderful memories of his positive attitude, joyful disposition and undying love and commitment to his family. He loved his wife, Carmelita, with all his heart. Married 62 years last May 26th, Carmelita was the light of his life. His passing was actually a beautiful event. His children Stephen, Robert & Diana were present at his bedside along with his loving wife. We are prayerfully hopeful that his deceased daughter and son, Victoria and Carmen were also present.

Born July 27th 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Sophie and Stephen Macdonald, he first served in the Naval Reserves in 1956 and was honorably discharged as a Aviation Tech 3rd Class Petty Officer. For the next 22 years he worked for IBM in computer & information services in various technical and executive service positions. He then served as a director of US field operations for Amdahl Corp. (CA), followed by V.P. of Global Customer Services at Floating Points Systems Inc. (OR) and V.P. of customer service at Masstor Systems Inc. (CA) He then moved to Virginia as President and CEO of Patent Search Systems, Inc. Then he became an account executive at Emerging Technologies Inc. and was then named director of Business Development at Information Planning and Management Systems. Since 2001, Bob has been an independent insurance agent. About 10 years ago, he and Carmelita moved to Texas, where he was associated with Seniors Choice, LLC where he specialized in informing and advising seniors to make their best annual choice of medicare supplemental programs .

His work opportunities resulted in our family moving all over the country (Chicago, Corpus Christi, Kansas City, Ridgefield Conn., Pitts. PA, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Saratoga, CA, Portland OR & Stafford, VA.). This had it’s advantages as it planted a seed of exploration and gave his children the opportunity to re-invent themselves in each new city. Most recently, in Kingwood Texas, he really seemed to enjoy his work assisting seniors to secure and utilize supplemental health insurance. Our dad loved to talk to people and I think that is why he seemed to enjoy this work best of all.

We are proud to have such a devoted father & friend who genuinely cared about others including his children, grand children and great grandchildren. And we will all cherish the many memories of his love and joyous spirit. We are sure his belated daughter Victoria and son Carmen have greeted him on the other side and we faithfully trust that we will all see each other again when we reach the end of our earthly journey. His job here is over but our faith gives us confidence that the Lord’s greeting was, “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St Martha’s Catholic Church.

  1. I will always remember Gramps by the way he greeted me, always with a big smile and a strong hug. He was always ready to tell you about a new health study or give you his opinion on a topic, but he always seemed very interested with what you had to say, I believe that showed how much he valued/cared about others. You will be missed.
