OBITUARY

Thomas (Tom) Michael Eifling, age 71 of Kingwood, passed away July 2, 2019. Tom was born on August 22, 1947 in Harlingen, Texas to the late William Howard and Annette Eifling. Growing up in the Rio Grande Valley, he enjoyed fishing the Rio Hondo, spending time at Padre Island, golfing with his Dad, bowling and cooling down from the South Texas heat with raspas (a tradition that would continue with his daughter).

He later attended and graduated from Texas Tech University, where he made a host of lifelong friends that he never lost touch with. He was a proud Red Raider, attending at least one football game a year and never missing a televised sporting event.

An avid sports fan; Tom never met a sport he didn’t like. He spent most of the 1980’s as a member of a traveling bowling league. When he wasn’t bowling, he was watching the pros on tv. He also enjoyed cheering on the Astros, Rockets and Texans (almost as much as his Red Raiders). Most recently, his son-in-law introduced him to the world of soccer. In this case, he may have appreciated the banter even more than the game.

Tom had a long career in the office supply industry from which he retired. He wore many hats in this industry, from space planning and layout design to managing several office equipment & supply stores.

Tom is preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Annette Eifling. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nanya Eifling; and daughter Erica Henderson (William) of Austin. He is also survived by his brother, James Eifling of New Hampshire; two brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
