Obituary
Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his wife and four children on Friday, December 7, 2018, four days shy of his 86th birthday.
Jack was born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 11, 1932 to John David Dillon and Grace Agnes Joyce Dillon. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1954, Jack joined the United States Army where he Protected Pittsburgh, PA! (as he used to say). During this time he met his wife of 62 years, Helen Yvonne Clark Dillon.
Jack received his CPA from the University of Illinois and worked in the corporate world for almost 30 years. In 1982, Jack started his own business, Dillon’s Tax & Payroll Svc Inc. (dba- Dillon & Daughters), in Humble, Texas, His daughters, Linda and Lisa, still carry on his legacy today.
Jack was known for his vivid storytelling of adventures from his youth; tales that brought smiles to his loved ones, despite hearing them over and over again.
Jack is survived by his wife Helen, son John (wife Rosalie) of Tomball, Texas, his daughter Linda and daughter Lisa of Kingwood, Texas, son Mike (wife Julie) of Richardson, Texas, grandchildren Jackie, Carly and Sam of Austin, Texas, brother in laws Jim (wife Barb) Clark of Indiana, PA, Dick (wife Tootsie) Clark of Niagara Falls, NY and Tommy (wife Nancy) Clark of Export, PA, as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins. Jack is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Patricia (Patsy) Kosel and her husband Lt. Colonel Howard Kosel, his favorite Aunt Anna Joyce (who was the sunshine of his life), numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and his favorite Grandpa Joyce, who gave him his favorite quote: “If I had a new back, I would be a young man!”. And finally, his dog Ebony, who he believed was the smartest dog ever.
The family will hold a celebration of Life on June 15, 2019 at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas from 4 to 8 p.m.. A special thank you to Donna, Brandi and Deborah of Simply Care and Houston Hospice for taking such good care of him his last week on Earth. We will miss you Loving Husband, Dad, Daddy, Grandpa, Mentor and Friend. R.I.P. We will see you again one day. May the Road Rise up to meet you, May the Wind be always at your back, May the Sun shine warm upon your face; the Rain fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his Hand.
Service Information
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jack Dillon on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at Darst Funeral Home, 796 Russell Palmer Road, Kingwood, Texas 77339.
