OBITUARY

Raymond Joseph Vurpillat of Atascocita, Texas died peacefully at home on February 12, 2019 at the age of 84.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Freda and his 3 children, Sue Petruno (Jim) of East Fallowfield, PA., John Vurpillat (Jane Koenig) of Crown Point IN., and Jim Vurpillat (Deb) of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI., 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Anna (Bartel) Vurpillat and his sister Bea Bogart.

Ray was born on December 16, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Purdue University in 1956 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Ray was a member of the ASQ and was active in the Energy and Environment Division for many years. In 1990 on a meeting trip for the ASQ, he met Freda Monk and they were married in 1991. Ray worked for Brown & Root/Haliburton as their Worldwide Quality Manager from 1980 until he retired in 2000. He continued consulting for various companies until 2015. Ray was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a longtime member, Lecter and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Humble.

Visitation is set for Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas. A Catholic funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Humble, Texas. Rev. Father Felix Ilesanmi Osasona, M.S.P will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ray’s life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Mary Magdalen Capital Campaign at 527 South Houston Ave. Humble Texas 77338.

Visitation: a visitation was held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Kingwood, TX at Darst Funeral Home (796 Russell Palmer Road, Kingwood, TX 77339). Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 P.M.

Funeral: a funeral Mass was held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11 a.m. in Humble, TX at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church (527 South Houston Avenue, Humble, TX 77338)
